Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!!!
We had a major storm in Chicago on Friday night. It was so bad that we lost our power for 18 hours. NOT fun when you have a 2 year old. Brant was out with a few friends that he had in town and I was home with Devyn and Kara. Of course I couldn't find a flashlight or anything useful so Kara and I sat with Devyn and watched Shrek on our laptop (that eventually ran out of batteries) and drank wine by candle light. It was very romantic!! We finally got our power back and everything is good now!!
Baba and Drew came down to go to Millennium Park on Friday during the day! It was sort of a bust because Ms. Devyn was being a total drama queen and wanted no part of it! But we tried! We took the kids on the "L" for the very first time and I think they liked it. Then we played in the water park area of Millennium Park. When we left Baba bought everyone ice cream!
The lady making the ice cream gave Drew like 1 tiny small scoop and Devyn got an ENORMOUS mound of ice cream. It was pretty much a hot mess because it was 97 degrees so it melted much faster than she could eat it.
We have a slight obsession with Shrek these days. I am not sure if I posted or not but we took her to see the movie last week and she actually sat through it. We planned it so she missed all of the previews and right when we sat down the movie started. The last 30 minutes or so she was screaming SHREK SHREK SHREK because he was flying through the air. Anyway we have almost every single Shrek toy that McDonald's has (we are missing the cat watch and for some reason it is really hard to find) but she can't leave the house without EVERY single one of the toys. And she sleeps holding 2 of them. Honestly the FIRST thing she says to me when she wakes up in the morning is Mamma Shrek?? I guess it could be worse.
Drew!! I love this kid! He makes me laugh so hard! He is so witty for 5 year old.
Here we are waving goodbye to Baba and Drew after our big day!
Yesterday I took Devyn up to Libertyville for Libertyville Days! It was fun! I got totally burned but the kids had a good time. Here Devyn is playing one of the carnival games. You pick up a toy and get whatever it says under it. Basically we paid $5 for a really tiny rubber ducky. You can see Brock next to her and Drew is behind her. Drew played a different game and won a toy just for Devyn! What a nice cousin!
The twins!! They are so funny! Reid can eat and eat and eat all day long he is hysterical. Brock is motoring our and starting to get into absolutely everything! He is really into my parents brooms and mops!
Ms. D eating her all time favorite thing watching Drew go on the ride! I tried to get D to go on some of the rides and she was too scared. Maybe next year.
Drew going on the ride!
And future Olympian Devyn McVay Gordon....We had our last day of gymnastics last Sunday and the kids got gold medals_Devyn insisted that I wear hers so I did. After class we went to Starbucks and I ran in to get the coffee and the guy behind the counter asked did you win, place or show? I was like HUH!?! Totally not realizing I was wearing a gold medal. Finally I realized it and explained what it was and then he goes "well judging by your height you may have an olympic gymnast on your hand." Thanks buddy.
